Notice that Rain Strum is at the top of the list if you gave it 5 stars. Click on the Simple Tab. It basically just collapses or hides the browse section. This is called the Perform Section. Click that and drag down and to the right. Each of these options is a perform preset called a snapshot, and the names are different for each of the patches. Go ahead and right click the first snapshot, select Swap Current Snapshots, and select the number 2.

This is useful if say you liked the first snapshot, but thought it would blend well with the last snapshot. You can now move them around to create different combinations.

Beefy, powerful, and organic immediately came to mind. This thing has so much power in the bass end with the 4 oscillators and warm filters. With everything Alchemy, they give you a ton of choices. Filters are no different, with over 39 to choose from. The final track was a high pad sound. I dialed in some granulated sounds, brought down the filter cutoff, and got a smooth high pad perfect for the track.

Again, all the transients just worked, and the sound was rich and clear. An Alchemy preset can contain up to four sources, each using one or more synthesis engines. You can morph or crossfade between these sources. Dozens of modeled analog and digital filters are available, in addition to multiple racks of integrated effect units and an extensive modulation section.

Alchemy also features a powerful arpeggiator that can control each source independently and provides flexible pattern modulation options. If you are new to synthesizers and different synthesis methods, see Synthesizer basics overview. Also see the Alchemy tutorial introduction for Logic Pro for detailed tasks on the use of several advanced Alchemy synthesis features. Before you can design new sounds with Alchemy you need to understand how its different parts fit together, and how each of them contributes to what you hear.

This can also lead to some interesting new sounds as frequencies from one instrument clash with, or enhance one another, particularly when you add different modulation effects or even arpeggiators on top.

Apple also says improvements have been made to Alchemy's other forms of resyththesis, including Formant, Additive, and Granular. Additionally, the analogue-style filters have been redesigned and include a new dirty "Bee" filter , the convolution-based reverb now has access to over different impulse responses, and there's even a Waveshaper with built-in curve presets to emulate the sound of tubes, rectifiers, and other types of distortion.

If you're not at all interested in Alchemy, then Logic MainStage gets a bump to version 3. Both are said to have received multiple stability and connectivity improvements, too.

Alchemy is an under appreciated synth and often overlooked just because it's included. There's this feeling that the free plugins aren't as good. Alchemy is an easy-to-use, yet powerful sample manipulation synthesizer. It offers numerous real-time performance controls and an extensive preset library.

These sorts of messages are used to synchronize the clock of one device to another. You can also sync the tempo of the sequencer as well as any LFOs being used to modulate parameters.

There are three means of communication in terms of MIDI. Some devices allow you to switch the functionality of the ports as well. Not only that, but this sort of communication is bi-directional, so moving a parameter in a virtual synth can be visually indicated on a MIDI controller that uses MIDI encoders. So the visual representation on the controller matches the virtual interface and vice versa.

Adapters are available to connect to standard MIDI jacks or cables. Wireless MIDI is especially useful for applications that are cell phone and tablet-based. Some traditional controllers are also now allowing wireless communication. The lack of, or impracticality of, physical connections makes this an essential means of communication. Interfaces such as those made by iConnectivity have this capability. Look for something referring to an external instrument — it should have a way to route MIDI data via a specific channel.

A fairly recent and long-awaited development is MIDI 2. We are in the golden age of MIDI in terms of connectivity and control. Two huge developments in this new protocol include:.

MPE MIDI Polyphonic Expression — This enables individual control of parameters such as pitch bend, vibrato, timbre, and volume on a note-by-note basis, while MIDI previously only allowed for control of these parameters on a track-wide or channel-wide basis.

Not all virtual instruments, hardware synths or controllers are MPE-capable yet, but that is quickly changing. Tags : bpm Trap Loops Synth Loops 1. Tags : bpm Trap Loops Violin Loops 1. Hashtagx 13th Jun Tags : bpm Trap Loops Piano Loops 2. Hashtagx 10th Jun Tags : bpm Trap Loops Strings Loops 1.

No less than six!

Sylenth is designed to do one thing—emulate classic analog synthesis—but do it exceptionally well. All the virtual analog components were carefully designed to offer the rich sound of their real analog counterparts, with alias-free oscillators, and filters that include nonlinear saturation and self-oscillation options. A comprehensive set of envelopes, modulators, and an arpeggiator is rounded off with a full array of audio effects—everything needed to achieve classic analog synth sounds with the warmth and edge of traditional hardware synths is included.

A faux LCD panel helps simplify programing the more tweaky features, and flexible routing allows for the two oscillator layers to cross-feed the filters, making for an especially nice bit of analog character in the digital world. The U-he line includes several synths, but I want to focus on two of the most popular, Zebra 2 and Diva.

Only modules used in a particular patch are displayed, reducing front-panel clutter, and making for a more streamlined interface. The centrally-located modulation grid offers an easy way to connect modules, and helps visualize signal flow in complex patches.

Diva, on the other hand, is a more dedicated analog-style synth—it models the sounds of various classic analog synth modules. But two things set it apart from other analog modelers.

This faithfulness to real analog sound brings with it a bit of a CPU hit, but users have embraced it, so this Diva may be worth her high-maintenance ways.

I also didn't include any audio examples—how can you boil the characteristic sound of synths that each offer so much variety into a few seconds of one or two patches? Drummer can even follow along to a specified track and adjust its playing accordingly — much like a live drummer would.
