IDT High definition Codec (Windows /Windows 10) - Microsoft Community.IDT High definition audio codec not working on Windows 10 technical - Microsoft Community
Previously pre-registered for Windows 10 which I installed last night. The day before release however my computers sound started acting up. It seems as if the audio is cutting in and out a lot. It seems as if it is switching between speaker and headphones without me plugging them in and out. It does this without headphones also I tried both. Both seem to give the same issue intermittently.
I also uninstalled and then re-installed with no results. Does anybody have any good ideas? I did try to update to windows 10 to see if that would help any but had no effect. This was causing issues from windows 8. Edit: if this helps if you listen closely you can hear kind of a beep or cutting in and out.

Sorry about that, it looks like the IDT drivers for Windows 10 aren't ready yet. You can try switching to the built-in Windows driver for now:. Device Manager - Sound, video and game controllers - your audio device - Details tab - Hardware IDs you can right-click to copy them and then paste them in a reply here. Seems like HP is not supporting Windows 10 Upgrades?
HP is saying that any PC manufactured by them 2 or more years ago may not support Windows 10, and they claim it is MS's and hardware component manufactures responsibility. I have found a temporary work around. I have Bluetooth on my device. I have been connecting a Bluetooth and using it for sound. For some reason I believed that MS would be competent in this release, despite every other product I have ever adopted early from MS has been a disaster , those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
Never trust Microsoft to release a finished product, wait 6 to 12 months and they may upgrade windows 10 to include sound! No reason to roll back, just delete IDT and Windows basic codecs, reboot, reinstall IDT Codecs you may have to reboot 1 more time after doing this and it should work. After you do this you also need to make sure that you go into your speaker icon in the right hand corner of your desktop right click , go to playback devices, right click on speaker and set as default and then go into recording devices, right click on microphone and set that to default and you should be all set.

Both are all-in-ones and interestingly the older one is working with Windows 10 it didn't at first but Windows somehow fixed it automatically but the second one no dice!
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling IDT to no avail the system told me it could run it for some reason. FYI - Not to insult anyone's intelligence but make sure once you download it you actually go into the file itself to run it multiple steps or else it won't be loaded on your computer just sitting in a file.
In reply to Mark Rogo's post on August 6, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers multiple times, I have tried the windows drivers nothing has worked, man this is frustrating, a week in and still no sound.
This makes sense. Of course HP is like "We do not care". However I am assuming we still have no update on this? Because this is annoying. In reply to SagePorter's post on August 9, I have an update, I rolled back to 8.

I then tried to download these software. This software is the Realtek Card Reader Driver. Does this mean I won't be able to get the driver?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!!!!!! Please help! Go to Solution. You will have to try the driver for Win 8. As you noted, the driver for the Audio is not available for Win View solution in original post.
Definitely try the 8. I had issues with my Elitebook and had to use a driver from Here's how to choose a different driver:. On the Driver tab, click Update Driver On the next screen, choose "Browse my computer", then "Let me pick If you have it hopefully choose the 6.
If not, maybe you can find the older driver on the support site. I use Windows 8. Losing the IDT is one of those I did this with already. Good Luck. Technical Preview should work with idt windows 10 same devices and programs that work with Windows 8. Click on "Sound, video, and game controllers" to expand the list.
